Out on the Town: 10/13

Woweewow! My new favorite band from Seattle is playing an in-store show at Sonic Boom Records this Thursday from 6-7PM! The guys of Pickwick are absolutely amazing. I still cannot get over their performance at Bumbershoot this past summer. Pickwick will also be performing with The Boxer Rebellion on October 21 as part of City Arts Fest.

The Boxer Rebellion Announce New Album

The Boxer Rebellion will release their new album The Cold Still on February 8, 2011 in North America and on February 7, 2011 in the UK and in Europe. The band had three of their songs featured on the soundtrack for the summer film “Going the Distance” and even performed not once, but twice in the movie. It’s safe to say that their debut has had a huge impact on their fan base today. If you haven’t checked out The Boxer Rebellion, you definitely should. They kind of sound like a mix between The Verve and Japandroids. I read somewhere that someone had compared them to U2. That might be a little bit of a stretch.

Track list:

No Harm
Step Out Of The Car
Locked In The Basement
Cause For Alarm
Caught By The Light
Organ Song
Memo
Both Sides Are Even
The Runner
Doubt

Out on the Town: 10/2

Later on this evening, The Boxer Rebellion will be performing at the Crocodile with Amusement Parks on Fire and Roman Holiday. The rest of the information can be found on the poster. If you’re not doing anything, I recommend that you go to this show. I was first introduced to this band when I saw them in the film Going the Distance and I haven’t stopped listening to the CD since.

The Boxer Rebellion – Evacuate

I was so confused when I tried to search for the video of this song because I kept typing in The Boxcar Rebellion. For some reason, I was strongly reminded of my childhood book series. Anyways, this band is fantastic. At this point in time, I cannot recall which band they remind me of, but I enjoy their music so that’s good enough for me. They were featured several times in the new Drew Barrymore and Justin Long romantic comedy, “Going the Distance,” and I think that was a big break for them. There were three songs played, but this one is my favorite!
