Here It Comes: Bumbershoot 2013 Lineup Party

What a fun way to gather music enthusiasts together in a prom setting for the announcement of their favorite Seattle music festival! Also, hi – Allen Stone. I cannot wait! And I can’t wait for this year’s Bumbershoot once again.

Day in a Life of a Talent Buyer

Having worked in aspects of booking and promotions for the local Seattle music scene since I was in high school, I often get questions from people asking me what it is that I do. When Quadstock rolls around, people think it’s all gravy and that there really is nothing to it.

False, bro. This job is stressful and anyone who’s done it will tell you the exact same thing. It is, however, a long term project that produces rewards like the moment when it all comes together.

That’s why I’m glad that The Stranger decided to publish an interview today with two talent buyers in the Seattle area. In the post, Melissa Darby and Hunter Motto, who book for the Crocodile, tell it like it is.

Get ready to learn everything you never knew about the booking process here.

Out on the Town: 12/14

Husband-wife duo Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore, of Tennis, will be performing at the Crocodile this evening for a 21+ show with tickets going for $12. The show starts at 8PM and they will be performing with Miniature Tigers and Devon Williams. I was so excited to finally catch this band at Bumbershoot this past year so if you have the chance to go see them, I highly recommend doing so.

You can read my review on Tennis here.

Ben Gibbard at the Crocodile

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qslZk0lRpE&feature=player_embedded]

Last week, Ben Gibbard performed at The Crocodile for a special benefit show for Teen Feed. Similar to the All-Ages Movement Project, Teen Feed also holds a special place in my heart. I used to work at a place back in high school that would host a Teen Feed every Friday evening. Typically, Teen Feed is focused on homeless youth, but at our location it was for all youth. It was a great event that brought out many kids every week whether they were able to afford a meal for themselves or not. The point was that we didn’t judge. We just wanted to make sure that you were fed.  It is wonderful to see someone like Ben Gibbard support this cause. I would have made a post about the show for “Out on the Town,” but the show had been sold out for months. I’m pretty sure that the show sold out soon after tickets were up for purchase. I didn’t know anyone that attended, but luckily 107.7 THE END was there to film some parts of his set. Above is potentially a new song that will maybe be released by Death Cab For Cutie or Ben Gibbard himself. Who knows? The video below is a special little duet with his wife Zooey Deschanel.

Enjoy!

Out on the Town: 10/22

Head Like A Kite will be performing at The Crocodile tonight for the Heineken City Arts Fest. It is sure to be a great show since they’ve also got Brent Amaker and the Rodeo and the Atomic Bombshells Burlesque with RA Scion of Common Market on board with them.

A new interview with lead singer Dave Einmo came out this morning that is a pretty good read. Click here for the article.

Out on the Town: 10/2

Later on this evening, The Boxer Rebellion will be performing at the Crocodile with Amusement Parks on Fire and Roman Holiday. The rest of the information can be found on the poster. If you’re not doing anything, I recommend that you go to this show. I was first introduced to this band when I saw them in the film Going the Distance and I haven’t stopped listening to the CD since.
