Always Remembering…

I don’t know how to exactly explain why some moments stick in my head more than others. Every now and then though when I find myself in a situation, I look back on a memory that never seems to go away. My 8th grade history teacher was an outstanding woman. There are several pieces of information that I took away from that class and kept with me ever since:

– The time she had us memorize The Declaration of Independence and recite it in front of the class

– The time she told me that she has no rhythm and could not keep up with the “claps” at concerts or musical performances

– The time I told her I wanted to be an MTV VJ and she just gave me a blank stare for two minutes. Truth.

– And the time she told me that she hated when people clapped at the end of movies. “WHY?!” she asked.

Today, I found myself at The Dark Knight and what do you know – there was a clapper in the audience! She was right – it is indeed, very awkward.

Some Good Acting

I believe I watch The Dark Knight at least twice a month. It may have something to do with TNT always replaying it on their channel, but for some reason I am never bored with this movie. I know exactly what happens in the movie obviously, but I can’t seem to get Heath Ledger out of my head. His character, though extremely terrifying, is so real to me. When I look at the Joker, I cannot see past his character. I can’t place him in any other role. I can’t remember what his voice sounds like when he is not the Joker. To know that the demands of this role had something to do with his death is haunting even today.

Inception

I really love what I do. Tonight my work allowed me the opportunity to see the advanced screening of the new film “Inception,” due out this Friday, July 16th.

I don’t want to give too much away about the film because you will enjoy it so much more if you know less. In fact, Leonardo DiCapario said in an interview not too long ago that he liked that there was so much mystery surrounding the trailer and what the movie was about because it added more suspense.

The cast was amazing. Leonardo, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Marion Cotillard blew me away. Some movies rely on an all-star cast to generate more buzz, but most of the time it isn’t accounted for. In fact, many are left feeling unsatisfied. With Inception, you won’t be. Every person has served their purpose. No one impressed me more than Miss Ellen Page. Even though she broke out of her Juno character with Whip It, she truly showed her wide range of acting abilities in this movie.

The film was beautiful, thrilling, and daring. It will keep you on the edge of your seat for all two and a half hours, but you’ll love every minute of it. Christopher Nolan did an incredible job with it all and you might even catch a few similarities from The Dark Knight as well. It’s funny how the movie is about dreams and imagination because you will  find yourself being pulled deeper and deeper into it and it is such an overwhelming feeling how attached you will be to this film in the end. What is real and what isn’t? This film will push you to think. It is complex and built upon layers, but it isn’t a chaotic mess. Just follow along and if you get a little lost along the way, maybe your imagination will put you back on the right track.

The reviews are coming out as we speak. The tough critics over at Rotten Tomatoes have already given it a 96% which is pretty damn good! For reference Toy Story 3 received a 99% and Eclipse got 54%

I also received some incredible responses from our viewers tonight:

“I can’t wait to go to sleep now!”

“…One of the best movies I’ve seen in two years.”

“Exceptional – best one I’ve seen all year.”

“I trust Nolan more than any other director.”

I highly recommend seeing this movie. I might even see it a second time. Let me know what you think!

Fear Factor

There are many people that are afraid of clowns, myself included. In my opinion, there’s nothing cute or adorable about them. It also doesn’t help that they portray scary characters in movies such as “It.” or “The Dark Knight.” Clearly, I just don’t see the appeal.

Blackpool, an organization that works with the Showzam Circus is offering to help you get over your fears of clowns (no thanks!) by tossing you into a  room with one. They’re calling it a workshop for coulrophobia – fear of clowns – but this just sounds like a terrible idea.

In The News…

LeAnn Rimes and her husband Dean Sheremet separate. There has been recent talk lately that she has been having an affair with previous co-star Eddie Cibrian. Earlier this week, Eddie’s wife Brandi Glanville has said they will be splitting also and that LeAnn and Eddie “deserve each other.”

Miley Cyrus wants to play Batgirl in The Dark Knight sequel.

Jon Gosselin is now being represented by Rubenstein Communications, a very well-known public relations firm in New York that represents David Letterman and Donald Trump. Guess he got tired of such bad publicity.

Chris Walla: [from Death Cab For Cutie on Paramore’s new single Ignorance] I think it would be fair to characterize the new Paramore single as totally fucking brilliant.
