Out on the Town: 11/19

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/user/monafoundation#p/a/u/0/tS2WwJbN5H4]

This Saturday, Rainn Wilson and friends will provide you with an evening of music and laughter at the Paramount Theater. And when I say friends, I mean – Rainn Wilson’s friends – not Dwight’s imaginary ones.  First off, we’ve got Mindy Kaling (Kelly from The Office,) my favorite busker turned rock star Andy Grammer, Chris Pratt, Anna Faris, Visqueen, The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy, Phoenix Jones (supposedly a superhero,) with many more to be announced.

If I wasn’t attending Fall Ball this night, I would definitely go just for the lineup. I don’t even know what the event is about, but it sounds great. It is also a benefit event for The Mona Foundation, which supports grassroots educational initiatives and increasing the status and awareness of girls and women all over the world.

Out on the Town: 1/14

Tomorrow evening from 6PM-8PM, my favorite little tea shop on Capitol Hill, Remedy Teas will be holding a listening party for The Decemberists’ new album The King is Dead! The album will actually be released on January 18th, but if you’ve got no plans tomorrow night, take yourself to Remedy and get cozy with the new album while nomming on their treats and sipping their wide variety of teas.

There will also be some pretty awesome prizes from the band that will be raffled at the event as well.

Chris Walla starts up record label

Chris Walla is a God. He is the guitarist in Death Cab For Cutie and in 2008, he released his first solo album Field Manual. If you haven’t listened to it yet, you should. It’s a great album and definitely one of my favorites.

In the past Chris has worked on albums done by The Postal Service, Tegan and Sara, Hot Hot Heat, The Thermals, and The Decemberists.

His new label entitled Trans is kicking off to a great start. Which Seattle band was first to sign w/ Chris? Why, The Lonely Forest of course. These guys are also great live and will be head into the studio this spring to record their LP.
