The Flavr Blue ft. Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone – 365
We’re bringing back an oldie, but a goodie and of course celebrating a group of Seattle artists. I love this collaboration between a group that I grew up with Jay Park from the K-pop world.

This was a completely last minute decision, but then I remembered that we’re still in a pandemic and what else are we doing Saturday evening? BLACKPINK was the K-pop girl group of my summer! We were more enthused about “How You Like That” than “Ice Cream,” but wasn’t everyone? Having only seen BTS’ online concert, I’m looking forward to another comparison point and a show at a reasonable hour.
Okay so I’m cheating because this is sort of what I was watching, but also listening! Somehow, this got me feeling so emotional. Is it obvious that we’re homesick? I remember feeling such FOMO watching my friends down at the market for this set and knowing if I had been in Seattle that I would’ve been there since the morning finding the best spot in the crowd. If you’re looking for an easy watch, I highly recommend.
It has been so cold this week and with on and off rainy/stormy days, I’ve basically been living in cozy wear. This is one of my favorite sweatshirts of all time from a band I previously loved in Seattle. I love wearing this bright blue hue and in an oversize so that it can be paired easily with my leggings. Unfortunately, it’s sold out in their merch store, but luckily for me, this is one sweatshirt I’m never letting go.
Lunar New Year came a little bit early to us in the form of these darling macarons! After having such a positive experience with [Macadons‘] BTS version, I really wanted to treat myself to another gift set. The flavors come in red bean, egg tart, and white rabbit (my favorite!) We’ll be snacking on these all weekend! Also we’re keeping up with the Seattle theme because Macadons is a Seattle-based bakery!

We really love seeing how far this Seattle group has gone. With every new release, their music just keeps getting better and better.

It just so happened that my day off landed on the day of The Flavr Blue concert in San Francisco. I’ve missed countless shows from not being in Seattle for the last year and every time I did come back to Seattle, I would always miss their shows by a couple of days. It was the worst luck. I’m so glad I got to see them this week because they are even more wonderful than before and it’s nice to have a slice of home in your new home.
Hollis and I also finally got the chance to meet each other for the first time! “Of course I know who you are, you’re Katie Yow Yow!”
We’ve always liked working with her and can’t wait to see what amazing things she’s going to do next with The Flavr Blue and on her own.
I know we’re a little bit early on letting you know that The Flavr Blue is going to be in the Bay, but that’s just how excited I am about this! I love when pieces of home find me in the Bay and I’ve been waiting for The Flavr Blue to return back to the Bay Area so there’s no way that I’m missing this show at DNA Lounge. A concert on a Wednesday evening? Looks like we’ll have to find a way to make this work. Also, while we’re thrilled about the San Francisco date, we figured that the group might have fans all over the West Coast so these dates are for you too!

When this song was first released, I was so excited about it. I probably listened to it every day last summer. This weekend I’m flying back to my hometown, but completely blowing it and missing them at Sasquatch. I can’t win. All I got was this music video and that no where near compares to a live performance from them. For everyone seeing them at the Gorge – have so much fun!

This song wasn’t featured on either of their albums, but it’s one of my favorites to see them perform live.
Similar to CMJ, I always get a little excited when I hear that some of my favorite local Seattle bands are headed off to SXSW.
Congrats to:
Also – shameless plug, one of my favorite Seattle bands, The Flavr Blue is performing at Neumos for their SXSW send-off and if you’re not doing anything tomorrow night, then you should definitely be there. It’s only $5 and it will pretty much be the best time of your life. It’s not sold out yet. I wish I were home.
