The Gap Goes Hard With Wu-Tang

Would anyone have ever guessed that Wu-Tang would ever collaborate with The Gap? Probably not, but this is actually happening and there is no turning back. The hip-hop group currently has a shirt (no word yet on if this is plural) on the racks at Gap retailers and I am wondering how perplexed customers of the brand will feel when they see it. This is not the first time The Gap has collaborated with musicians, but this is the strangest one.

Gap gives old logo a makeover

The Gap has decided to redo their signature logo for a new modernized look. I’m not kidding, the old is really out – just go to their website and see it for yourself. I’ve always been a fan of The Gap for their classic style, but when I stepped into their store this past summer, I realized it appeared a bit lackluster. The music was soft, the design boring and simple, employees with long faces. Seriously no one looked that happy. There was no color in the store or life in the workers. Needless to stay, I didn’t stick around for long.

Is the Gap rising to the challenge of their competitors with the first sign being this logo? Who knows?

Trend to Watch

But why just watch? It’s time to get a move on! The pictures above are coming from the clothes now being advertised by American Apparel. Say goodbye to bright neons and the revival of the 80’s! It’s time to class up!

American Apparel says so.

If you would not like to succumb to the AA, your other options include J. Crew, The Gap, and Banana Republic.

… you’re welcome 😉

Question:

I would like to purchase a pair of black Lululemon sweat pants for a Christmas gift.

The pants usually run anywhere from $80-$130. I’ve heard some arguments saying that this price is justified because they really are such quality sweat pants. Can any readers confirm this? The price makes me a little nervous because I’m sure I can find quality sweats at The Gap also.

Kanye West is serious y’all!

Kanye West has landed an interning gig with The Gap. The guy is serious about fashion, no jokes. He recently launched his line of sneakers with Louis Vuitton, but is hoping to expand into clothing now.

A source tells US Weekly, “He works all the time, and one Friday night recently he stayed until midnight. He is learning the fashion business from the inside and trying to do it quietly.”

Why Gap? Why now? I don’t know. However, I commend Mr. West. A person of his reputation could easily get a line on his own but he is actually taking the time to learn and do it right. It just goes to show how much he cares about his work and that he’s not going to take the easy path in this business.
