The Hills Celebrates 10 Years

Okay so technically it was last week, but we’ve put off writing this post and now we’re catching up! [Hi Beth!] For those of you who don’t know, we watch a lot of television – specifically a lot of REALITY TV and we aren’t ashamed of it. The Hills came onto the air 10 years ago and it was iconic. Every girl wanted to be Lauren and if you didn’t, you were probably a Heidi, Whitney or Audrina which was okay too! I think it was about a year ago that I discovered MTV had the old seasons on OnDemand and I played a serious game of catch up watching episode after episode after episode. Naturally, they flew by because they were just 20-25 minutes. We learned a lot about love [no combat boots at the beach, please] and friendship in that every time we get in a fight with our friends, we shout out, “You know what you did!”

Also who could forget that classic lonely black tear shed on Lauren’s face.

But what’s the most important lesson of all?

You NEVER chose the boy over Paris. Lauren learned a tough lesson with that and god, the world never lets her forget it! Honestly this list could go on, but we want to keep this short. 🙂

So it was announced last week that there will actually be Hills special airing on MTV in August and we couldn’t be more thrilled. We’re going to see where Lauren is at (married and being successful of course) and learn more juicy details about what it was like to film for the show.

The producers actually already shared some pretty good details that I poured over last week regarding the series and it’s something I think you’ll all find interesting as well – if you’re a fan, that is! You can check it out here!

The Weekend: 5 Things

IMG_2839

Everytime I travel somewhere, I always feel like I need the next weekend after to completely unwind! That didn’t really happen this time around though because I packed my entire Saturday with being in the city. I ventured to a new part of town for the first time and discovered Cole Valley with my pal Erica. It’s considered a neighborhood, but really it only has two blocks of shops and a brunch place that we did not love. Womp womp.

I love how most of the charming houses in San Francisco are always pastel colored. Funny, for someone who used to tell people my favorite color was “pastel” I am living far from this city.

Song of the Day

The Weeknd – The Hills

I wasn’t sure if this would be too aggressive for a Sunday, but we really love listening to The Weeknd… and coincidentally I watched like 7 episodes of The Hills last night. The only coincidence is that they have the same title. 🙂

Lauren Conrad is Engaged!

Our favorite Laguna Beach and The Hills star Lauren Conrad announced her engagement this weekend to her boyfriend William Tell. The two started dating last year. You basically just know that she’s going to have the most perfect wedding ever! Congrats Lauren! In other Laguna Beach news, her ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler got married this weekend to model Ashley Slack this past Saturday.

Lo Bosworth Shares Advice on YouTube

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=1tRE9l3kDJ4#at=33]

Earlier this week our favorite Laguna Beach’er Lo Bosworth announced that she was reviving her former blog “The Lo Down” and this time with advice shared over YouTube videos featuring food, fashion, and beauty. It didn’t matter what she said when she was 18 on the MTV reality series, but for some reason I always found her to be the most reasonable of Lauren’s friends. I would follow her advice so…

Also we think this video of her introducing the channel is pretty cute.

The Hills Alternate Ending

Personally, I’ve always been more of a Laguna Beach Season 1 girl, but I won’t lie to you – I was thrilled when I heard that Lauren Conrad would have her own spinoff in Los Angeles. It wasn’t always a perfect television series, but it had its moments. We learned some great lessons from the series like…

  • At some point you’re going to have a Jason Wahler in your life and he’s going to suck
  • Your best friend won’t listen to you when you try to tell her that she’s with the wrong guy. We’re talking about you Heidi.
  • You can never trust anyone that has two first names – Justin Bobby
  • You should never give up a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Paris for Jason Wahler, but if you’re lucky like Lauren, you’ll get a second chance.

The alternate ending that MTV aired is entertaining, but I prefer the original.

Watch it here and let me know what you think!

What If “The Hills” Ended Differently?

(Yes, this is from the Laguna Beach promo – it was better than The Hills anyways)

Who could ever forget that ending with Kristin Cavallari saying goodbye to Brody Jenner and driving off into the sunset before *gasp* a backlot was revealed suggesting that the reality television series had been staged all along?!

Well now, it looks like MTV wants to give us an alternative ending to the show…

But fans may get an even more satisfying resolution this summer: EW can exclusively reveal that MTV will air a different, alternate ending to The Hills on Friday, August 9, at 11:30 a.m. ET. It’s all part of the return of “RetroMTVBrunch,” which beginning July 8 at 9 a.m. ET and will feature encore presentations of both Laguna Beach and The Hills. Then, starting July 10, the marathons will air from 8 a.m. ET till noon ET. In between the airings, castmembers from MTV’s Girl Code and Awkward. will be providing commentary on the classic reality soaps.
