The Scene Aesthetic – Lonely Girl ft. Cary Brothers

This is one of my favorite songs from this album and sometimes we need a little reminder when these songs fall off into another playlist. I miss these boys.

I am thrilled to announce that my friends Eric and Andrew of The Scene Aesthetic are going on tour with one of my favorite acts The Rocket Summer and my new favorite band of 2011-2012 – States!

The lineup is stacked and it’s just the three of them. Now I haven’t gone to a concert for some time now, but this is the kind of lineup that would bring me out. It truly seems like a very special event.

I’ve Got Talented Friends

My dear friend Liz performed at The Can Can last night to release her brand spankin’ new EP and unfortunately, I was unable to make it. I did, however, find a video of her performance to post for all of you.

To follow Liz’s exciting news, my friends Eric and Andrew from The Scene Aesthetic also just released a video performing an acoustic version of their new song “Walk Away.”

The Scene Aesthetic – Landon’s Summer Diary

In the spirit of Christmas, my friend Eric gifted me with his band’s latest CD “Brother.” I have been so excited to give it a listen since it came out last month! Eric and Andrew never cease to amaze me. They had been working incredibly hard on this album and I am so proud of them. While I have discovered many favorite tracks on the album, I think I may have a soft spot for “Landon’s Summer Diary.”

The first band from Seattle that I had ever listened to was The Scene Aesthetic and they have truly come a long way since I watched them perform live for the first time five years ago. When a band from Seattle succeeds, friends and fans are affected because we have been there to watch their journey. That sounds like the corniest thing that I have ever written, but like other communities, the Seattle music scene is also a  community. Both Eric and Andrew have always been kind to their fans and with each album they are giving back to those who have stuck by them on this ride. It is amazing to see how much their sound has developed over the years. When the two of them first started out, they were purely acoustic. Today, they have produced an album with a full band and are touring with them also! That doesn’t mean that they have abandoned that type of style completely, but they are trying new things and growing up.

Brother” is beautiful and here are my favorite songs:

  • Lonely Girl
  • Beauty in the Breakdown [new version]
  • Walk This Town
  • If You’re A Bird
  • Landon’s Summer Diary

The Scene Aesthetic – Brother

Should be studying right now, but I wanted to let you guys all know that my friends’ new album Brother will be out tomorrow! It’s already available for purchase on iTunes now. Both Andrew and Eric have been working incredibly hard on this album and it is amazing to see all that they have done. It’s been a long way coming! It blows me away that the two of them have been at it for five years now.

I honestly have nothing, but great things to say about the two of them and I can’t even wait to get my hands on this album myself. They even recorded a track with Cary Brothers!

Congratulations Andrew and Eric! We’re all so proud of you.

Out on the Town: 9/27

The University of Washington Arts and Entertainment program will be hosting their Fall Fling this year with special guests Reliant K, and Seattle’s own This Providence and The Scene Aesthetic.

I realize that I am letting you guys all know more than a week in advance, but that’s just the planner in me. The concert will be open to the public and FREE. You know how much I love free events… You don’t want to miss this show though because This Providence and The Scene Aesthetic are both incredible performers. I have been listening to these two bands for over five years now and have grown up seeing them perform at local venues all over Seattle. They have both come so far – go and show your support for them and local Seattle music.

Yow Yow supports local music and friends

My friends from the local band The Scene Aesthetic were taking a mini break earlier this year from the spotlight, but that doesn’t mean they stopped working. Their break still consisted of working on their next album, writing, and recording new songs. Now, they’re back in full force so I thought I would share everything that they are doing for the next couple of months.

This week they released their first single “Never Gonna Let This Go” off their new album “Brother,” which will come out late this summer. The song can be streamed on their Facebook and Purevolume. If you’re really into the song, you can purchase it off iTunes.

Next, they are leaving in just a couple of days for their tour on the East Coast w/ Forever the Sickest Kids.

They are awfully sweet and such talented musicians and I am so glad that I have gotten to know them in these past five years. If you’re not doing anything on those dates, take yourself out to their show. You won’t regret it 🙂 They’ve been working very hard and have a lot of plans… maybe surprises? for these shows to come.
