Honestly, this was the best look out of the entire day.
Films about eating disorders will always make me a little bit uncomfortable. But at the end of the day, they are so important. It’s important for people to hear the stories, to know what it’s like, and what it feels like. I’ve been interested in these types of films lately because Lily Collins and Troian Bellisario are both staring in them and have both had eating disorders themselves so I know that the stories that they are portraying have a lot to do with their own experiences. I’m looking forward to seeing both their takes on it.
Even as I write this post, I feel a little bit weird saying that I’m interested in a film like this. It’s not something happy or a romantic comedy – something that I am used to be exciting about. Seeing a movie like this can be triggering for people like me or people in my life. I had read that Pretty Little Liars’ Troian Bellisario was starring in a film that she had written and that was based off an experience that she had encountered as she grew up struggling with an eating disorder. In an interview, she mentions how many people believe that it’s just about being skinny and losing weight. Sometimes it is, but it also touches on the ideal of control and what I have, myself, previously experienced is that it has a lot to do with being a mental thing. It’s not an easy thing to describe and sometimes when I discuss, I find myself going in circles, but someday we’ll figure it out and maybe that will be a later post.
I’m interested in seeing this movie because I don’t think it’s entirely about eating disorders. From the trailer, you can see that Troian has lost her twin brother, played by Harry Potter’s Tom Felton, and it’s this tragedy that starts to send her into this downward spiral. I’m definitely intrigued by this film and in the past have tried to watch other films and documentaries like Thin, but realized that it was a bit much for me. What does everyone think of the trailer so far? Is it what you thought it would be?
When we first announced that the two were engaged back in 2014, the news became very popular on Yow Yow! I had no idea that y’all were also fans of Pretty Little Liars and Suits (my two favorite shows at the time!) Or maybe you all just like hearing news of engagements. That is also true for me too. Well, we’re happy to announce that Troian and Patrick finally got married this past December in the most unique and creative way. They treated their guests to a 3-day wedding celebration around a theme that centered on their first date, “Fort Day.” I’ve seen several outlets posting about their wedding, but I thought the best photographs actually came from Hello Magazine in Canada so that’s what we’re sharing with you today.

Favorite Style Icon: Lily Aldridge
Lily is a style icon both on the runway and on the red carpet. This year, we really got to see her show up at a lot of events dressed to perfection. She was featured in our “Snaps for a Snapshots” several times in 2014 so even by the numbers alone, she beats everyone else. We’re looking forward to seeing more of her in 2015 and someday taking over the head angel slot when Adriana and Alessandra retire.
Runner up: Jamie Chung
Knowing what I know about how this year has been going for Yow Yow! I was a little bit nervous as to which posts would reach the top. It’s been a slow year, but it hasn’t been all that quiet. We’ve had a lot of fun with the blog and we’re going to continue doing so in the next year as well!
With that, here are our top 10 posts from the year 2014:
People Magazine is reporting today that Pretty Little Liars’ actress Troian Bellisario and Suits’ actor Patrick J. Adams are engaged! The two have been in Paris together while Adams has been filming “Rosemary’s Baby.” I’d say before this whole Adam Brody and Leighton Meester thing came along, they were my favorite couple from an opposite television series. The two have been dating for three years so congrats to the happy couple! As much as I think it’s great for celebrity couples to be in secret, I also really enjoy the way that they have held their relationship. It’s really cute to follow both of their Instagram accounts and to see the kinds of adventures they have together.

Yesterday, one of my favorite Seattle bands, The Head and The Heart, unveiled their latest music video for their single “Another Story.” Not only does it tell a very sweet story about healing and moving past heartbreak, it also stars Pretty Little Liars’ actress Troian Bellisario.
What do you guys think?

The cast of Pretty Little Liars looked amazing at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards last night and were receiving a great deal of the spotlight since one of their own – Lucy Hale – was hosting the event alongside Glee’s Darren Criss.

Even though Troian’s character Spencer on Pretty Little Liars has been a little cray cray as of late, I’ve always thought that outside of the television screen, she could be somewhat of a style icon! She proved me right in these new shots for Rachel Antonoff. It’s Spencer like you’ve never seen her before. These were shot by photographer Lindsey Byrnes at the Beverly Hill Hotel for Antonoff’s Spring 2013 campaign. Here are some of my favorites:
