Is it breakfast or dessert? Is there ever a wrong time to be eating a ice cream donut sandwich? Probably not. My favorite trendy burger joint, Umami Burger, has added this item to their menu for $6. While it looks delicious, I feel like I’d probably fall into a dessert coma after this. With that said, who wants to go to Umami in Palo Alto with me next weekend?

Katie Eats San Francisco!

plow

Our first weekend in San Francisco was a success! I am very fortunate to have moved to another area down the coast known for their food and I couldn’t be more excited about my next adventure in the Bay Area trying out some incredible restaurants. We spent the entire Saturday exploring the city, but of course the only way to start off  a day like this is with brunch! Plow is a place that I have been reading about for at least a year now over in Potrero Hill. I ordered the Soft Scrambled Eggs with Cherry Tomatoes, light Goat Cheese, Chives, with a side of Crispy Potatoes and Toast. Needless to say, I was stuffed!

Now we know that food in the city is phenomenal, but I’m willing to bet that other places in the Bay Area could give the city a run for their money too. Venturing over to the Stanford area today, we stopped into Umami Burger (Yes – we talk about that place a lot because of Mayer Hawthorne!) and indulged. Feeling like a meatless Sunday, I decided to go for the Earth Burger which consists of a mushroom and edamame patty. Don’t let that redness scare ya!

Stay tuned for more adventures in me being fed.

Mayer Hawthorne’s Burger At Umami

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/72698820]

At Yow Yow! we are very big fans of a man named Mayer Hawthorne. Not only did he release a hot new album this year (one of my favorites!) but Umami Burger also gave him his own burger! Here’s a video of him serving it to his fans. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’d better start soon because it’s only available until August 31st.

The Hawthorne

Los Angeles readers! Do me a favor? Go to this, please. It may seem a little pointless for me to be posting this event when I am up north in Seattle, but  hello – I’ve never actually had the opportunity to work with an artist who has had a burger named after them until now! To this day, I’m still  a little bit shocked, but Mayer Hawthorne really is one of the coolest guys I have ever met. And now you can meet him too if you attend.

I suppose it’s a little strange to wake up in the morning craving a burger, but you just can’t help the way you feel sometimes. If I could, I would venture out of Seattle for the day to California for an Umami Burger! I’ve actually never had one, but I’ve heard a lot about it – can anyone share their views?

It’s disappointing cause what I’m really going to have for lunch is just a plain turkey sandwich. Oh the life of a college student…
