Conflict Kitchen

photo cred | Today

There are two ways to attract me to your restaurant. 1. The food itself. 2. The reviews I read about it and other people’s experiences eating there. Conflict Kitchen is a concept that got me curious because it is a restaurant that changes its menus to reflect the country that is currently conflicting with the United States. Their current focus? Cuba!

I think one of my favorite restaurants back in Seattle – Coastal Kitchen – has a rotating menu, but the fact that you can learn a bit of history, culture, and politics from eating at Conflict Kitchen is exciting! Conflict Kitchen is located in Pittsburgh, PA. Check out their website and current menu here.

What do you think of when…

You begin to type your state into Google. This is the United States according to autocomplete. It’s unfortunate that Washington State’s autocomplete refers to something that belongs to Washington DC. How embarrassing.

China Playing Dirrrrty

This past Wednesday, the International Olympic Committee made the decision to strip China’s Gymnastics team of their bronze medal after discovering one gymnast was underage during the 2000 Olympic games.

The United States will be receiving the bronze instead. (YAYAYA!)

It turns out that during the Olympic games in Sydney, Australia, one of their athletes was only 14 years old. According to the rule book, you must be at least 16 – not pre-teen status basically.

The movie brought them great success, but nonetheless they are still living in the slums. Recently, the young star who plays young Latika in the movie had her home demolished by authorities in India. However, on July 16th, she will be releasing her memoir in the UK and the United States.

A statement from publishers TransWorld promises, “(Ali) tells her own incredible story, from playing marbles with her friends beside the sewers of Garib Nagar in Mumbai, to dancing along to the Bollywood films she and her family watch on their old television se
