Valentine’s Day Is More Than A Commercial Holiday

tumblr_lk8z64K60G1qzyrwvo1_500

Though I’ve never celebrated a Valentine’s Day myself, I realize that there is much more meaning to the day than gifts, candies, and flowers. If it were up to me, Valentine’s Day would be everyday because I believe in celebrating love at all times possible. There is so much emphasis on this one day and not enough on any other day because too quickly we often times take love for granted. We don’t say the word out of fear. Maybe we fear rejection, but it’s also pretty daunting to just say it out loud or to another person. Once you say it you can never take it back, but sometimes you might be surprised by the response you hear back.

If these couple of weeks have taught me anything it is that the strength in the people I have in my life has built me up so that I could be strong again for the people that care about me and will always always be there. Every now and then, I believe in promoting selfishness as long as it’s healthy. I’ve had enough of that and now it is time for me to be whole-heartedly selfless and to give strength to those who need it most from me.

If I could advise you all on anything or if you could take something away from this blog at all it would be to not wait until Valentine’s Day to tell someone you love them. We shouldn’t be waiting another second to say the things that matter most.

My prayers and thoughts are with a very special family today.

Wedding Mondays

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/54067077]
I honestly could not have chosen a better wedding video to feature for this Valentine’s Day week. Emily Schuman has been a blogging icon to me for years and earlier this year she married her fiance Geoffrey in the most classic and vintage inspired wedding I’ve ever seen. These two love bugs are adorable and I think if I could have a wedding like this filled with such romance and love, I would be a very happy girl someday.

Enjoy!

Valentine’s Day Kind Of Morning

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=q_8q2LMBzQE]

Good morning readers! Since we’re doing all Valentine’s Day themed posts this week, I wanted to share with you my favorite Valentine’s Day commercial of the season by Verizon featuring the beautiful city of San Francisco.

Every time I catch this commercial on TV, my heart melts a little.

Some Men Like Valentine’s Day

Like many little girls growing up, I always believed that Valentine’s Day was for the ladies! It was the one day that girls would acquire something sparkly, nibble into some chocolates, or even receive a bouquet of flowers. (This doesn’t happen in real life) For some reason, no one ever told me that guys  were getting something out of it too. Of course, as I grew up I knew better. I knew that if I were to ever celebrate Valentine’s Day that it wouldn’t be all about me and that I would treat the relationship as being mutual. It still bothers me to this day to watch reality television shows in which girls expect to be treated like princesses at all times. I’m looking at you Heidi Montag.

I’m pretty proud of myself that I can still believe that chivalry isn’t dead, but also that girls can split meals, ask a guy out on a date first, or even WHOA treat their guys out to a date sometimes. It’s what keeps things exciting, right?

The point of this is that Valentine’s Day is a celebration for both you AND your significant other so enjoy it and girls – allow yourself to do something nice for your guy (not just on V-day) but other days too.

What To Wear: Valentine’s Day

Camilla and Marc Adaptation Dress – $509.06

Happy month of love y’all! The big day is just around the corner and whether or not you’re expecting something or just letting yourself go and enjoying the moment, Valentine’s Day is a day where you should feel good about the way you look and for your significant other or whatever they call them these days. Typically, I prefer the red family – pink, coral, light red, etc. only because I don’t LOVE the color red. However, we’re gonna diverge a bit. Here are some of my favorite picks so if you don’t have anything special to wear yet, I guess you had better get on it…

It’s A Valentine’s Day Post!

Valentine’s Day has always been one of my favorite holidays and though none of them have ever been all that memorable, that hasn’t really stopped me from loving love. There are always going to be the people in your life that you know absolutely despise the holiday. They think it’s incredibly commercialized…and it is, but you know what? You don’t need to spoil anyone else’s fun. Let ‘dem couples love their love.

Having said that, buying a gift that will melt your partner’s or friend’s (or whoever you buy for on Valentine’s) heart can be difficult. Finding something original is always the aim to hopefully wow your partner with something they’ve never seen before. I personally love all things custom, such as this Personalized Lover Creative 3D Print photo Moon Lamp; simply upload whichever picture you want to appear on this lamp (whether that be you or your partner or a picture of you and your group of friends), and have it come to completion right at your doorstep. Also, personalized gifts are many! Do not narrow your search to the same old things only. You could explore the array of gifting options like getting a custom name necklace with your ship name or initials. This way, it would remain a token of love or something meaningful they can hold on to forever. Things like this are super romantic and will be highly appreciated by whoever is receiving the gift. It would show them the efforts you have put in for gifting that gift.

Also, gifting that special someone a customized spotify code plaque of a song that best represents you as a couple or a fond memory that you share, is sure to impress your partner. A gift that tugs at the heartstrings is always something to be treasured and if the memory is attached to a song, it becomes all the more special. Nevertheless, here are just a few more gifts to wow your partner or girls with this year.
