Viola Davis in Michael Kors Collection
I spent a great deal of time today glued to my TV. Those hours of the red carpet and the actual award show aren’t hours that I can get back. My two takeaways? Well, I didn’t watch enough good movies in the last year and everyone that tried to pull off a long-sleeved dress this year on the red carpet failed. I did have a couple of favorite looks though and they came from those that surprised me! I always like doing this post the night of the award show so that people can have something to scroll through when morning comes around so with that here are my favorite looks as well as those that missed the mark.
I’m actually tired of this trend with dresses being one shouldered and have been for awhile, however, I love this color on Viola and she looks stunning. I also like that she decided to simplify both her and makeup so that the dress could just do its thing. The head-scratching moment of the night for this dress was when Ryan Seacrest asked her what color her dress was while everyone at home was like “um, can’t you tell what color this is?”
Sarah Jessica Parker wearing Vera Wang
Very rarely am I ever impressed by anything SJP wears. She looks like a marshmallow in this gown and I’m not happy with the way she styled her hair. The only way this look could redeem itself is if it were sleeveless and her hair were let down.

There’s one guy friend every year that comes to me – sweat forming on his forehead and completely overwhelmed with the pressures of having to buy his girl a Valentine’s Day present. You would think that by your 20’s you would’ve nailed this already. Wrong. It’s okay though, I don’t mind helping out my boys because of course, we know this holiday like the back of our hand. As a girl myself and a girl that loves gifts, when I put myself into this situation as the receiver, it seems fairly easy. However, I recognize that some girls just aren’t like me and might be expecting more so the only way to really write this gift guide is just to share all the things that I would want! Don’t worry – I’ll include some variety so hopefully one of these things will land you in good graces.

Emma Stone in Gucci
With all of the award shows happening this week, it is refreshing to see Emma Stone in this jacket and pant combination. I’m predicting that this shade of emerald green will be popping up all over the place this spring! So chic.

Olivia Wilde in Marchesa
Chocolate brown and gold sequins are the perfect combination for this Golden Globe gown. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Olivia look this good! I also loved that she wore her hair down with her bangs since we are typically used to seeing it done up.

Please accept my sincere apologies for not sharing with you my coverage on Men’s Fashion Week. I’m not “sexist,” but as I am a girl I am much more interested in women’s fashion week than men’s. However, I do not want to deprive you of images of quality clothing. There are men out there who actually care about their appearance and clothes and why things are put together the way they are. If you would like to see full coverage of all designers for Fall 2010 (guys, that’s you!) then click here. Girls, the link also works for you as well if you would like to see some gorgeous male models. 😉
