Wedding Mondays

It’s been a little bit quiet on the “Wedding Mondays” front and there’s a perfectly good reason for that. In a way, we’ve sort of outgrown wedding videos! Don’t worry; I was as shocked as you when I discovered this revelation in myself too. Here’s how I got to this point though. When you’ve been watching wedding videos on a consistent basis for this many years, you’ve seen them all. When I first started this series, I would watch a handful and love every single one. Back then in 2009-2010, having a wedding videographer wasn’t as popular because it was another expense. As more and more vendors come onto the scene, I find myself identifying with very few.

More often times than not, I will start a video and within seconds, I know I don’t want to finish it. It’s not because I know it won’t be good, but because I know how it will end. Those aren’t the videos that I want to see anymore and of course, I want to stress that this is in no way meant to be disrespectful to a) couples or b) the videographers who have made a living out of this. But at the end of the day, I do decide what I want to post.

For Yow Yow! though we’ve just outgrown this tradition that we’ve known grown to love. I know this doesn’t come as a surprise because the time in between from every last “Wedding Mondays” post would start to stretch even longer. From time to time, there will be a video that I’ll come across and want to post, but it just feels like the right time to sunset this series. Don’t worry; I still love them. I still want every friend of mine to have a wedding video no matter what.

I chose this one today because it was, in my eyes, different! I love seeing shots of Europe and destination weddings mostly because I have never been to Europe myself. The detail shots completely make this and the bride’s headpiece was a scene stealer for sure. To view the entire post on Style Me Pretty click [here]

Wedding Mondays

Think we can keep Wedding Mondays going regularly again? I’m headed to my first one of the year at the end of the month and I’ve got weddings on the brain. It looks like it might be a light year for me, which just means that I’ve got more love to share at the two that I’m attending. Jen and Jeremy’s wedding video is a breath of fresh air. I queued up more than a handful yesterday and this was the first one right out of the gate. It’s certainly not like any other wedding video we’ve seen and it was elegant and simple in its own way.

Wedding Mondays

It’s hard to not love a wedding video that doesn’t start out with this kind of energy! Benedetta and Jeff exude this very free-spirited love that is infectious. Also, how can you not love a video that features their son?! I’ve been holding onto this wedding video for some time now, but knew that it would be a favorite when I saw it. I’m very excited to be able to share this with you all this evening and hope that it kicks off your week right.

Wedding Mondays

Our Topanga may not have ended up with Cory Matthews, but she did get her fairytale ending with her husband Jensen. I’m well aware that Danielle Fishel is not her character, but watching this still felt like an extension of her life! Danielle and her husband Jensen married in Los Angeles amongst their friends and some of her former co-stars. Sabrina Carpenter who played her the best friend of her on-screen daughter was even one of her bridesmaids!

The two married held their wedding at the beautiful Carondelet House. As if the wedding wasn’t enough of a show stopper with all of the details, John Mayer sang their first dance song.

For all of the details and more, you can view their wedding [here] at Green Wedding Shoes.

Domenico Demarco |The New Yorker

I could watch these pieces for days. These profiles that The New Yorker always does are always so captivating. The best part is that they are bite-sized. Many of you know that I haven’t read a book for leisure in years. It’s not because I don’t enjoy it. In fact, growing up, my parents practically built out a mini library of books for me in my room. I once got penalized for trying to check out too many books at my local library that I think that’s when they created a limit.

That being said, the true reason is that it’s hard to find the time. The second reason is that I might be a little bit more visual. These pieces are so beautifully done and when it’s involving a subject that I’m very interested in, it catches my attention longer.

Who else felt the desire to order a pizza after watching this? I’m drooling.

Wedding Mondays

As weddings continue to grow more and more expensive, the rise in elopements among my friends are increasing. Personally, two of my closest friends have already opted for very small weddings with a third confessing to me that she’d elope just last week. When you watch a wedding video like this though, it’s not hard to see why this route is attractive. There is so much to love in a wedding video like this one – stunning views of Santorini and the most beautiful slip wedding dress I’ve ever seen.

[Chris and Ruth] did an amazing job with this one.

This all white look is absolute perfection. For all of their wedding details and more, click here for their feature on [Green Wedding Shoes.]

Wedding Mondays

I’m so excited to bring this back. It has been two months that we’ve let Wedding Mondays just slip right on by and tonight I’m giving myself a little bit of work life balance by breaking up my evening. For my career, it’s easy to find ways to work when I’m not doing anything or if I don’t have plans. It can send me down the rabbit hole for hours at times, but this week we’re practicing some self care. I left work a little earlier than usual tonight and headed to my CorePower class. From there, I cut down on time by eating dinner at work and then returning home for an hour of work emails before dedicating the rest to Yow Yow! If only we could practice this every night.

I had my last weddings back in the summer, but am now looking forward to 2019 where I know I’ll have at least one in March. Holiday season is just around the corner though so maybe we should start taking bets on how many new engagements there will be. Would you believe that I’ve been holding onto this wedding video since July?! There’s a few more in the queue actually, but I love this video for all of the details that were highlighted. As much as you can say rain on a wedding day is good luck, it’s not actually what any couple ever wants. This couple rolled with the punches and honestly the details of their day are so good, nothing else matters.

Wedding Mondays

By now, y’all have a sense of the kind of wedding videos I like, but every now and then I like to throw a few curve balls. How funny is this one that looks like a rap music video? It’s only one minute long, but I honestly wish it could have stretched out longer because of how fun Leslie and Cano are.
This morning I woke up to a text from my best friend letting me know that she’s getting married next week at City Hall. Following that is going to be her reception which she’d love for me to make if I can. As I check the date that she has just given me, I realize that it happens to be the weekend I already have two back-to-back weddings. The date that she says is a Thursday so while technically, I am free that night, I would have three back-to-back weddings. Is your head spinning yet? It kills me to have to miss one of my best friend’s weddings, but what’s a girl to do? I’m there in spirit and of course the Bachelorette Party that will technically come after the wedding.
As we get older, I know we’re all going to have our fair share of wedding woes. This is my first big one, but what other ones have you all faced?
And back to that other wedding…! Here are my favorite details that you absolutely cannot miss:
This flower wall! You better believe I saved this to my Pinterest board.
The groom’s blue floral printed suit!
The bride and her ‘maids in red!

Wedding Mondays

I’ve been holding onto this video for at least a month, but writing about this wedding video requires a bit of care. For my best friend, I can’t just toss a bunch of words together. Despite the showers that day, Ashley and Daniel’s wedding went off without a hitch and became one of my favorite days this year. The two of them had an engagement that lasted a year and a half and boy, did that timeline just fly by. In the months leading up to her wedding, we had the bridal shower, bachelorette party, and then the big day. It was a busy last three months, but it meant that I got to see Ashley consecutively more and more leading up to everything.

Y’all already know how I feel about weddings, but being asked to be a bridesmaid is one of the best asks I’ve ever gotten. I loved every minute being a part of this day. San Diego isn’t just where the wedding took place. It also happens to be the place where Ashley and Daniel have made a home for themselves. To have the celebration there and to be a part of their day was so special.

I kind of love watching this video over again because there’s always a new small detail that I’m catching. The video also doesn’t do the day justice. There really were so many moments that didn’t make the cut, but for a day that went by so fast, this is a great recap. Can you spot me standing at the front of the church wiping tears from my chin? I’d rather have that moment make the cut than when I was ugly crying into my napkin at dinner!

Wedding Mondays

I thought that I was going to be done with my wedding season when I reached the end of March. I had a record of 2 in one month – a first time for me – but I was prepared for my wedding season to end just as it was beginning. Lo and behold, a month went by and I found myself being invited to one more. The first guy in my close group of guys friends is getting married in August and all of us could not be more excited for the big day. Wedding Mondays is a series that is hard for me to keep regular these days for a couple of reasons. 1) They require finding the perfect video 2) It’s not like a normal post where you can just toss in a video and send it off into the interwebs. Each video is special and it requires me to do a little bit of commentary every now and then.

I know this is a little controversial, but I am obsessed with black bridesmaids dresses. I’ve been thinking about these for the last year and am almost sure that I’ll end up making that same decision for myself in the future. The details in this wedding are just exquisite. The florals, the embroidered denim jackets… and can I just mentioned that I love the fact that the bride and groom did their first dance to “Alabama Shakes – I Found You?” It’s the perfect modern day song for a first dance at a wedding. This post doesn’t do this wedding any justice so please, please, please head on over to their feature over at [Green Wedding Shoes]
