Everlane’s New York Store

Last week, San Francisco’s Everlane opened up their first permanent New York store in the Nolita neighborhood. Here’s what you’ll find: puffers, denim, millennial pink, and the ultimate minimalist style that defines 2017. Earlier this year, I discovered that my office was within walking distance of the Everlane Lab (not quite as large as this store) but even still, it was a dangerous routine and habit that I kept up for weeks.

I’ve known about Everlane since it first began back in 2011, but it wasn’t until this year that I bought my first piece – a striped long sleeved tee that I wore every week for a month. The pieces are simple, but functional. Most importantly, they are affordable. They’re the basics that you need, but want to have in every color.

There’s a piece about Everlane though that separates it from being just a normal retailer. In San Francisco, many consider it to be its own startup because of how tech is immersed into it. What that means is that shopping at this Everlane location won’t be like a normal shopping experience. Here you’ll have a chance to learn how one of their tees are made via headphones in the store and have shopping made easier and more convenient with your credit cards on file from your previous purchases.

For many early adopters of Everlane, the assumption was that it would always be an online retailer. Why the change to a physical store? Founder Michael Preysman explains:

“The original idea was that we would never do stores,” he admitted. “But when you’re in the online-only world, you can’t bring people into your space and your brand the same way you can with a physical store, where it feels transparent, open, and honest. So we wanted to bring the brand to life and be part of people’s lives in a more meaningful way.”

“People do want to try things on,” Preysman said. “Having them come in and touch the product and talk to employees makes such a difference. We started out with T-shirts, which are really easy to buy online, but denim in particular is really hard to shop for [without trying it on]. So this is perfect timing.”

You can find Everlane at 28 Prince Street.

A Royal Engagement

Waking up to the news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle being engaged was the best news of yesterday morning. I actually was planning on writing a post last night after watching the full interview between the two of them, but was fan-girling out way too hard to keep my composure even in writing. It also meant that I had some extra time to do more reading on the news so that I could include extra links to better support this post. Say what you want about this engagement, but I haven’t spoken to a single person who isn’t obsessed with them especially more so now after this news has broken out. I’ll admit, I don’t know everything about Prince Harry, but I’ve been a fan of Meghan Markle’s since episode one of Suits. To top it off, not only is she beautiful and intelligent, but she’s a talented actress who also ran her own lifestyle blog and does so much more beyond that. Meghan Markle will be a great role model (if she isn’t considered one already) and while I know there has been a lot of criticism directed towards her, I don’t think any of those are actually that relevant – do you? :)

We’re in love with them. Emoji. Heart eyes.

Also in case you’ve been living under a rock and have no idea how this relationship escalated so quickly, here’s a great recap of their timeline from Vogue.

Harry and Meghan will wed this coming Spring 2018 at Windsor Castle.

It may be fall everywhere else in the world, but southern California is still experiencing 95 degree weather and yesterday’s outfit choices in LA for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Show prove it. The finalists from the competition showcased at Chateau Marmont in front of a panel of judges and in attendance for the event were some of our favorite celebrity icons and even those that are style icons in the making. KITH x Vogue’s 125th Anniversary

To celebrate Vogue Magazine’s 125th anniversary, the fashion magazine got together with KITH to put out a line of chic and colorful sweatshirts. If this gives you all of the 90’s feels, then your hunch is right. I know everyone loves a hoodie staple, but I can’t get enough of the crewneck sweatshirt style especially in these bright and fun colors. Each sweatshirt has a branded “Vogue” logo on the front and is made with french terry for the coziest and comfiest snug ever. Just in time for the fall season, you can purchase the five different kinds of crewnecks beginning September 4th and the hoodies beginning September 11th both online and in-stores.

Kailijumei’s “Pixie Rose Lipstick”

I’ve always been fascinated with the invention of new and innovative beauty products. I’ve never been a beauty junkie myself (at least not up until recently) but what I love the most is that there’s always going to be a new shade of lipstick or nail color rising onto the scene and that packaging can come in the most creative forms that you would have never imagined. Because it’s spring, we’ve got floral on our minds for months and this “Pixie Rose Lipstick” by Kailijumei is one that we’re super curious about! Each lipstick has a real life bud planted in the middle of it and while it appears clear, there will be a shade tied to it once it is put on your lips.

The lipstick will glide on clear but change to “a bespoke pink based on the wearer’s pH,” according to Vogue.

To have your very own, you can purchase it here for $18 USD.

Gigi and Zayn’s Vogue Spread

I have to admit that for a long time, I thought this relationship was a total publicity stunt, but there’s no denying how cute Gigi and Zayn actually are in their new spread for Vogue. The whole internet is saying it. They are absolutely #relationshipgoals. And this spread is too much for us to handle.

Top Models Take on Silicon Valley

I sort of stopped in my tracks the other day when I came across this editorial in Silicon Valley featuring Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, and Kendall Jenner alongside a few CEOs in the tech industry. It’s one of those things where you feel like they just don’t go together, but then in a weird way they sort of do. If Eva Chen can pull it off, why can’t Gigi and Kendall? Karlie is probably the closest to tech out of those two (other than the fact that Kendall has a heavily followed Instagram user) because of her connection to Kode with Karlie – an organization that supports young girls coding. It’s actually really adorable. Anyways, we thought we’d share the editorial because here on Yow Yow! we love all things fashion and we have since the blog was born and I now currently work in tech so there’s that connection… you know.

CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Dinner 2015

Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy

It’s been awhile since we’ve had a fashion post and what I’m loving about this one is that a ton of models and celebrities chose to wore white! I recently have been considering a white dress for my upcoming holiday party and while a lot of people have been telling me to go black, I’m completely opposed. After two years of black dresses, I’m ready to try something a bit different so I’m using some of these looks for inspiration.

73 Questions w/ Emily Ratajkowski

I really like this cheeky Vogue series that they’ve been doing with celebrities. It’s kind of nice to see them in a low-key intimate environment, but still allowing viewers to get to know them in a different setting than you would on a red carpet. I’ve been following Emily on Instagram for a little while now and I find her to be pretty fascinating. She’s come a long way from being “just the girl in the Robin Thicke music video” and I’m excited to see what’s next (especially since her last movie was a bust.)
